I have been looking, but so far, I haven’t found anything that I like as well for a New Year’s prayer as this prayer attributed to Oswald of Northumbria that I featured in a post a few years ago.
It seems to cover just about everything. I find it fascinating that an Anglo-Saxon king and recent convert to Christianity can write a prayer that resonates over a millennia later.
As I jot down my New Year’s resolutions, and some of them for the umpti-umpth time, it occurs that I might have a better chance at attaining my goals, and achieving victory over my struggles if I took this prayer to heart, especially the way that it quite literally places everything in the the Lord’s hands.
