Give us, Lord,
a humble, quiet, peaceable,
patient, tender and charitable mind
and in all our thoughts, words and deeds
a taste of the Holy Spirit.
Give us, Lord,
a lively faith, a firm hope,
a fervent charity, a love of you.
Take from us all lukewarmness in meditation, dullness in prayer.
Give us fervour and delight in thinking of you and your grace,
your tender compassion towards me.
The things that we pray for, good Lord, give us grace to labour for:
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
~Amen.
Our CM inspired homeschool schedule included reading “A Man For All Seasons,” by Robert Bolt, in addition to a brief biography of Sir Thomas More as an accompaniment to our history studies. The Daughter and I were delighted to find this prayer and included it in our Commonplace Books.
