A green leaf, fresh, unfurled,
basking in the sun,
the flesh of its form,
and the fluid in its veins working a chemical reaction 
only possible with the light and heat from the sun,
and without which it will die,
starved of life-giving fuel.   

Oh, Creator God,
to have such Scriptural sustenance within me, giving me form,
to stretch thirsty roots down, solidly tapping into the Living Water,
to open my skin to Living Water raining down on me,
to turn my very being toward the Son ,
to reach up with hunger to the Light of the World,

Whose magnificent grace and glory,
in His unfathomable power works in my living soul
a spiritual photosynthesis,

feeding me, because there is no other food for me,
energizing me, at a rate of energy capture unmeasurable,
making me fresh, ever green, fruitful…

What would it be like?
What would it be like for the others around me?
We are all dependent upon the Scripture, Living Water, and Light,
Would that all those whose souls are starving, thirsty, dying in the dark, would turn, unfurl, and drink.

…like a tree planted by streams of water,
yielding it’s fruit in season,
leaves never withering (Psalm 1)…

Oh Father, make it so.  Amen.

Photosynthesis (/foʊtoʊˈsɪnθəsɪs/; from the Greekφώτο- [photo-], “light,” and σύνθεσις [synthesis], “putting together”, “composition”) a process that converts carbon dioxide into organic compounds, especially sugars, using the energy from sunlight.

Photosynthesis is vital for all aerobic life on Earth.  As well as maintaining the normal level of oxygen in the atmosphere.  

Nearly all life either depends on it directly or as a source of energy, or indirectly as the ultimate source of energy…

The rate of energy capture by photosynthesis is immense, approximately 100 terawatts, which is about six times larger than the power consumption of human civilization.
