We have so enjoyed getting outside since our hiking vacation. It seemed to break down a barrier that we had, or perhaps has enabled us to rearrange priorities a bit. Whichever it is, we decided to spend a little time outside on a recent Sunday afternoon, and take a walk at the Oak Grove Lake Park in Chesapeake.
We found out about the park through the Christian Homeschool Group that we gather with occasionally for park days. Initially they were based in Chesapeake, VA which boasts a great variety of beautiful parks. This park offers a nice wide 1.5 mile wooded path around a large lake with several spots suitable for fishing. There is a large shelter for group picnics, random picnic tables, and play equipment near the entrance and parking lot.
The leaves are just starting to turn, it will be a while yet I think before there is a big display. But we found an abundance of berries of all kinds, and some wildflowers. Here are a few photos:
Isn’t his a great time for nature walks and nature studies? We have enjoyed watching the leaves turn and talking about why. I think we might do some leaf chromatography this week!
